NIAE – 2025

CONCEPT NOTE

Theme: National Machinery Exhibition on Proven Technologies for Advancing Agricultural Practices in Nigeria

Organized by: Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) in collaboration with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), Ilorin, Nigeria.

Date:   November 10 – 14, 2025

Venue: NCAM, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria

  1. Background and Rationale

Agricultural mechanization is a crucial driver of productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in Nigeria’s agricultural sector. The 44th International Conference of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) held in Abuja in 2024 underscored the need to assess and advance mechanization efforts across the country. This is in furtherance to the remark made by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Engr. Professor Umara Babagana Zulum, FNSE, FNIAE, who challenged the Institution (NIAE) and the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) to organize a well-focused exhibition on technologies development in Nigeria. This is to enhance and promote agricultural mechanization and to create opportunities for direct impact of our profession in the agricultural landscape of Nigeria. In response to this, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NIAE resolved to organize a National Machinery Exhibition alongside with our annual international conference this year at the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, Ilorin. The National Exhibition is designed primarily to showcase proven technologies, machineries, and processing plants that can significantly enhance agricultural practices, production, processing, preservation, and storage of agricultural products and crops produce.

The exhibition will bring together critical stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, research institutions, polytechnics, and colleges of education to foster collaboration, innovation, and investment in mechanized agricultural solutions.

  • Objectives

The objectives of the National Exhibition among other are to:

  1. Showcase Proven Technologies: to exhibit tested and efficient farm machinery, mechanized processes, and innovations tailored towards enhancing Nigerian agricultural production systems.
  2. Encourage Adoption and Localization: to promote indigenous fabrication, adaptation, and commercialization of agricultural machinery.
  3. Engage Stakeholder: to create an interactive platform for policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to discuss sustainable strategies for advancing agricultural mechanization in Nigeria.
  4. Share Knowledge: to highlight research findings, best practices, and success stories in mechanized agriculture.
  5. Promote Investment: to attract funding and investment opportunities for the development and up-scaling up of home-grown agricultural technologies.
  6. Build Capacity: to train students, farmers, engineers, and entrepreneurs on the usage and maintenance of mechanized tools for increased efficiency and improved agricultural productivity.
  • Scope of the Exhibition

The exhibition will include proven home-grown technologies, innovatively-improved existing technologies or machineries, implements and hub for enhancing agricultural productivity in order to achieve increased food productivity for self sufficiency and sustainable agricultural development. Also, critical stakeholders that will encourage adoption of these technologies, create interactive forum for discussing sustainable strategies, share knowledge, build capacity and to promote investments will also be taking place at the national machinery exhibition.

The event will feature:

  1. Machinery Exhibition: Display of functional and innovative agricultural machines, equipment and tools.
  2. Workshops and Demonstrations: Practical training on selected proven technologies.
  3. Symposium: Panel discussions on agricultural mechanization status, challenges, and the way forward.
  4. Networking Opportunities: Facilitating partnerships among stakeholders for future collaborations.
  • Call for Submission

Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) in collaboration with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) invite participants from:
