The National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) made a significant impact at the recently concluded Africa Agro Machinery and Equipment Expo (AAMETEX) 2024, held on November 12, 2024.
Engr. Dr. A. R. Kamal, the Executive Director of NCAM, represented the Honourable Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Sabi Abdullahi, and delivered a thought-provoking keynote address on the theme, “Agricultural Mechanization for Renewed Hope on Food Security.”
In his keynote address, Dr. Kamal emphasized the crucial role of agricultural mechanization in addressing Africa’s food security challenges. He highlighted that despite Africa’s immense agricultural potential, food insecurity remains a pressing concern. He reiterated that the solution lies in embracing modern and appropriate mechanization technologies to boost productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and create sustainable food systems.
“You will recall that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declared a state of emergency on food insecurity earlier this year. This declaration is a call to action for all of us to provide collaborative solutions that complement the government’s efforts,” said Dr. Kamal.
